What is TCM and acupressure?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of medicine that has been practiced for over 2,000 years. TCM practitioners believe that energy, or qi (pronounced "chee"), flows through the body in pathways called meridians.

When this flow is disturbed, disease can occur. Acupressure is a form of TCM that uses pressure instead of needles to stimulate meridian points. This helps to restore the flow of qi and relieve discomfort.

Acupressure is an alternative medicine technique derived from acupuncture. Acupressure involves applying physical pressure to acupuncture points with the hand, elbow, or various devices.

Some forms of acupressure use special devices that "needle" the acupuncture points without piercing the skin. Acupuncture and acupressure are considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. Acupressure is an effective treatment for nausea resulting from chemotherapy, pregnancy, and post-surgical pain relief.

It has also been shown to be helpful for tension headaches and migraines. Acupressure is a safe and effective alternative to more invasive treatments such as surgery or medication. It carries little risk of side effects and can be used on people of all ages. Acupressure is an excellent way to promote overall health and well-being.
